The God of Jeshurun
Priscilla Van Sutphin
June 2nd, 2004

I was sitting here playing one cell and listening to worship, and I heard..."Who is a God like that of Jeshurun..."
So  I looked up the scriptures using this name, & the meaning. I believe it is a call to the body to come right again...to become righteous.
Of course that only happens as we surrender to HIM, & get in His presence, & are molded by the circumstances & interactions He brings into our lives. We have to cooperate with His Most Holy Spirit. It also seems to be saying that destruction & judgment is at hand - perilous times.

I thought to the encounter at the coffee shop tonight. I was sitting with two youth & one older man.  We were talking about rehabilitating prisoners, & how different things could be done to bring responsibility, healing & accountability into their lives, & about the local marine base that was shut down & how it could be used for that.
Shortly thereafter, an elderly man came by with little cards he was passing out to beg for money. He was deaf per the card. I signed to him "Jesus loves you", & indicated I had no money, & the older guy he gave a card to, didn't want to give, so I asked him if I could borrow a dollar so I could give him something & he obliged me & I gave the man a dollar, & later went to the bank to get some money to repay him.

Now as I'm writing this, I am convicted that it was a perfect opportunity to DEMONSTRATE the love of God through praying for him, like Peter outside the gate beautiful. [Silver & gold I do not have, but what I do have I can give to you!] And I was disturbed at my own lack of sensitivity at that moment in not looking to the Spirit. But here we had just talked about rehab, & how people discard the homeless & don't care for them, yet in that moment, none of us did all that was needed, I am ashamed to report.
Here I have been to India & seen the deaf hear, & seen such miracles, yet I didn't even ask if he would like prayer.  The others were only talking about helping, but when the opportunity came - nothing.  We get so caught up with what we are doing we ignore the obvious sometimes. One youth had just given smokes to a young guy that was out of him, who I was discerning was fully packed with demonic bondage, angry & bitter, & tormented. Here we all had opportunity to DO something to demonstrate the love of God. I am thinking, why didn't I get the dependency on HIM in that very moment? Maybe it wasn't time, but I've done it before, then I thought that God wanted to say something about this enactment.

One of the things we had spoken of, was my recent attempt to rescue a young woman I met in Romania from abuse she was experiencing...beatings & abuse from the very people who were supposed to be helping her. So this other ministry wrote & I mentioned her & they offered to call her & visit her! I was so shocked they would be willing.
Then they did, & it all turned into a fiasco. In the maylay of events it was hard to discern from my end what was truly going on. Then the Lord gave me an object lesson.

A friend had been visiting & she happened, as she left, upon a small sparrow that had been carried out of its nest by crows intent on eating it. It was lying in the driveway about 15 feet from my car. She had disrupted the crows, but then called me to come look - like maybe I could rescue it, & it was in shock, unable to move much. I revived it enough such that it began to respond & peep, but wouldn't open it's mouth to drink water from the dropper or anything & later that night the poor thing died separated from it's parents.

This friend is also someone I have tried to help, but who has been very unteachable in certain areas. Sometimes though our intentions are best, they are interfering with what God is doing. Sometimes we do what we think is best & it still doesn't work. Without HIS guidance, & fullness of revelation from Him, we can flounder around & not be effective. I pray next time I will be able to be more dependent to hear what the Lord is saying, to be more consistent with relying on Him.

OT:3484  Yeshuruwn (yesh-oo-roon'); from OT:3474; upright; Jeshurun, a symbol. name for Israel:  KJV - Jeshurun.
OT:3474  yashar (yaw-shar'); a primitive root; to be straight or even; figuratively, to be (causatively, to make) right, pleasant, prosperous:  KJV - direct, fit, seem good (meet), please (will), be (esteem, go) right (on), bring (look, make, take the) straight (way), be upright (-ly).

JESH'URUN
(jesh'u-run; "upright"). An honorable surname given to Israel (Deut 32:15; 33:5,26; Isa 44:2; in the latter, "Jesurun" in the KJV) & representing Israel as a nation of just or upright men. The epithet righteous nation, as we may render Jeshurun, was intended to remind Israel of its calling & involved the severest reproof of its apostasy.

Isa 44:1-20 NKJV  God's Blessing on Israel
"Yet hear me now, O Jacob My servant, & Israel whom I have chosen. 2 Thus says the LORD who made you & formed you from the womb, who will help you: 'Fear not, O Jacob My servant; & you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. 3  For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, & floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, & My blessing on your offspring; 4 They will spring up among the grass like willows by the watercourses.' 5 One will say, 'I am the LORD's'; another will call himself by the name of Jacob; another will write with his hand, 'The LORD's, 'And name himself by the name of Israel. 6 There Is No Other God "Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts:  'I am the First & I am the Last; besides Me there is no God. 7 And who can proclaim as I do? Then let him declare it & set it in order for Me, since I appointed the ancient people. And the things that are coming & shall come, let them show these to them. 8 Do not fear, nor be afraid; Have I not told you from that time, & declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one.'"

9 Idolatry Is Foolishness
Those who make an image, all of them are useless, & their precious things shall not profit; they are their own witnesses; They neither see nor know, that they may be ashamed. 10 Who would form a god or mold an image that profits him nothing? 11 Surely all his companions would be ashamed; & the workmen, they are mere men. Let them all be gathered together, Let them stand up; Yet they shall fear, They shall be ashamed together.

12  The blacksmith with the tongs works one in the coals, fashions it with hammers, & works it with the strength of his arms. Even so, he is hungry, & his strength fails; He drinks no water & is faint. 13 The craftsman stretches out his rule, He marks one out with chalk; He fashions it with a plane, He marks it out with the compass, & makes it like the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man, that it may remain in the house. 14  He cuts down cedars for himself, & takes the cypress & the oak; He secures it for himself among the trees of the forest. He plants a pine,& the rain nourishes it.

15  Then it shall be for a man to burn, for he will take some of it & warm himself; Yes, he kindles it & bakes bread;  Indeed he makes a god & worships it; He makes it a carved image, & falls down to it. (referring to making an idol of wood, not bowing to a tree) 16 He burns half of it in the fire; With this half he eats meat; He roasts a roast, & is satisfied. He even warms himself & says,"Ah! I am warm, I have seen the fire." 17 And the rest of it he makes into a god, His carved image. He falls down before it & worships it, Prays to it & says, "Deliver me, for you are my god!"

18  They do not know nor understand; For He has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, & their hearts, so that they cannot understand. 19 And no one considers in his heart, Nor is there knowledge nor understanding to say," I have burned half of it in the fire, Yes, I have also baked bread on its coals; I have roasted meat & eaten it; & shall I make the rest of it an abomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?"  20 He feeds on ashes; A deceived heart has turned him aside; & he cannot deliver his soul, Nor say, "Is there not a lie in my right hand?"

Isa 44:21- 28   Israel Is Not Forgotten
"Remember these, O Jacob, & Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me! 22 I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, & like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you." 23 Sing, O heavens, for the LORD has done it! Shout, you lower parts of the earth;  Break forth into singing, you mountains, O forest, & every tree in it!  For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, & glorified Himself in Israel.
24 Judah Will Be Restored
Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, & He who formed you from the womb: "I am the LORD, who makes all things,Who stretches out the heavens all alone,Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself; 25 Who frustrates the signs of the babblers,& drives diviners mad;  Who turns wise men backward,& makes their knowledge foolishness; 26  Who confirms the word of His servant,& performs the counsel of His messengers; Who says to Jerusalem, 'You shall be inhabited, 'To the cities of Judah, 'You shall be built,'& I will raise up her waste places; 27 Who says to the deep, 'Be dry! And I will dry up your rivers'; 28 Who says of Cyrus, 'He is My shepherd, & he shall perform all My pleasure, Saying to Jerusalem,"You shall be built," & to the temple, "Your foundation shall be laid."'

This is the second time in a few days that I got the above verses 24-27.

Deut 33:24-29 NKJV
24 And of Asher he said:  "Asher is most blessed of sons; Let him be favored by his brothers, and let him dip his foot in oil.  25 Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; as your days, so shall your strength be.
26  "There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, Who rides the heavens to help you,And in His excellency on the clouds.   27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms;  He will thrust out the enemy from before you, and will say, 'Destroy!'   28  Then Israel shall dwell in safety, the fountain of Jacob alone, In a land of grain and new wine; His heavens shall also drop dew. 29 Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help And the sword of your majesty!  Your enemies shall submit to you, and you shall tread down their high places."

Deut 33:3  NKJV   Yes, He loves the people; All His saints are in Your hand; They sit down at Your feet; everyone receives Your words.
This 333 number has come up lately along with 222 and 22:22.
I read that in the book of Songs, it says My beloved 22 times and My love 22 times.  Some of these number combinations seem to represent to us, the love of the LORD for us and how much He will be with us in this final hour of history.

Deut 32:1-47 NKJV  Song of Moses
1   "Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. 2   Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, as raindrops on the tender herb, and as showers on the grass. 3  For I proclaim the name of the LORD: Ascribe greatness to our God. 4   He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.
5   "They have corrupted themselves; They are not His children, because of their blemish: A perverse and crooked generation. 6   Do you thus deal with the LORD,
O foolish and unwise people?   Is He not your Father, who bought you?  Has He not made you and established you?
7   "Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations.  Ask your father, and he will show you; Your elders, and they will tell you: 8  When the Most High divided their inheritance to the nations, when He separated the sons of Adam, He set the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the children of Israel.  9  For the LORD's portion is His people; Jacob is the place of His inheritance.
10  "He found him in a desert land And in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye. 11 As an eagle stirs up its nest,  hovers over its young,  spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings, 12  So the LORD alone led him, and there was no foreign god with him.
13  "He made him ride in the heights of the earth, that he might eat the produce of the fields; He made him draw honey from the Rock, and oil from the flinty Rock; 14  Curds from the cattle, and milk of the flock, with fat of lambs; and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats,
I capitalized the Rock words here to emphasize that it is symbolic...we draw honey = sweetness from the LIVING WORD. And we also draw OIL from the flinty Rock...the Spirit of God.

15 "But Jeshurun grew fat & kicked; You grew fat, you grew thick, You are obese! Then he forsook God who made him, & scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation. 16 They provoked Him to jealousy with foreign gods; With abominations they provoked Him to anger. 17 They sacrificed to demons, not to God, to gods they did not know, to new gods, new arrivals that your fathers did not fear. 18 Of the Rock who begot you, you are unmindful, & have forgotten the God who fathered you.

I thought to a vision someone sent me tonight of the coming of the new age leader...and that is type of provoking Him to jealousy with worshiping demons or another god...a form of godliness with no power thereof, the wrong power.

19 "And when the LORD saw it, He spurned them, because of the provocation of His sons & His daughters. 20 And He said: 'I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end will be, for they are a perverse generation, Children in whom is no faith.

The above is surely for now eh ?

21   They have provoked Me to jealousy by what is not God; They have moved Me to anger by their foolish idols.  But I will provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a nation;  I will move them to anger by a foolish nation. 22   For a fire is kindled in My anger, and shall burn to the lowest hell; It shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
23  'I will heap disasters on them;  I  will spend My arrows on them.  24  They shall be wasted with hunger,  Devoured by pestilence & bitter destruction; I will also send against them the teeth of beasts, with the poison of serpents of the dust.
25  The sword shall destroy outside;  There shall be terror within for the young man and virgin, the nursing child with the man of gray hairs. 26   I would have said, "I will dash them in pieces, I will make the memory of them to cease from among men," 27  Had I not feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should misunderstand, lest they should say, "Our hand is high; and it is not the LORD who has done all this."'
28   "For they are a nation void of counsel, nor is there any understanding in them.   29   Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!   30   How could one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had surrendered them?
31  For their rock is not like our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges. 32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom and of the fields of Gomorrah; their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter. 33   Their wine is the poison of serpents, and the cruel venom of cobras.

34  'Is this not laid up in store with Me,  sealed up among My treasures? 35  Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; Their foot shall slip in due time; For the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.'
36  "For the LORD will judge His people and have compassion on His servants, when He sees that their power is gone, and there is no one remaining, bond or free. 37  He will say: 'Where are their gods, the rock in which they sought refuge?  38   Who ate the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise and help you, and be your refuge.
39' Now see that I, even I, am He, and there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand. 40  For I raise My hand to heaven, and say, "As I live forever,  41  If I whet My glittering sword, and My hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to My enemies, and repay those who hate Me.   42   I will make My arrows drunk with blood, and My sword shall devour flesh,  with the blood of the slain and the captives, from the heads of the leaders of the enemy."'
43   "Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people; for He will avenge the blood of His servants, and render vengeance to His adversaries; He will provide atonement for His land and His people."
44  So Moses came with Joshua the son of Nun and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people. 45  Moses finished speaking all these words to all Israel, 46 and he said to them: "Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe — all the words of this law. 47   For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess."
There has been a "sign" lately, related to me of a billboard or sign saying  " HAVOC" .

Main Entry: hav·oc
Etymology: Middle English havok, from Anglo-French, modification of Old French havot plunder
1 : wide and general destruction : DEVASTATION
2 : great confusion and disorder

God turn hearts to You by Your GRACE that we will not be destroyed completely.
