🔥 Psalm 91 NKJV Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God
  1. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” 3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the [a]fowler & from the perilous pestilence. 4 He shall cover you with His feathers, & under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield & [b]buckler. 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. 12 In their hands they shall [c]bear you up, Lest you [d]dash your foot against a stone. 13 You shall tread upon the lion & the cobra,The young lion & the serpent you shall trample underfoot. 14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will [e]set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, & I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him & honor him. 16 With [f]long life I will satisfy him, & show him My salvation.”

Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, & that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, & it grieved him at his heart.
Gen 18:23 And Abraham drew near, & said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? 24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy & not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? 25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: & that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? 26 & the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. 27 And Abraham answered & said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust & ashes:
28 Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty & five, I will not destroy it. 29 And he spake unto him yet again, & said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. & he said, I will not do it for forty's sake. 30 And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, & I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there. 31 And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake. 32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, & I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.
Ex 9:26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail. 27 And Pharaoh sent, & called for Moses & Aaron, & said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, & I & my people are wicked. In being judged pharoah admits they are wicked!
🔥 Numbers 16: 26 And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, & touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
🔥 Deut 9:4 Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee. 5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 6 Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.
Deut 9:18 And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days & forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger......Deut 9:26 I prayed therefore unto the LORD, & said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people & thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand. 27 Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin: 28 Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, & because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.
🔥 Deut 13:9 Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; & thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, & thou givest him nought; & he cry unto the LORD against thee, & it be sin unto thee. 10 Thou shalt surely give him, & thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, & in all that thou puttest thine hand unto. 11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, & to thy needy, in thy land.
🔥 Deut 17:2 If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant, 3 And hath gone & served other gods, & worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 4 And it be told thee, & thou hast heard of it, & enquired diligently, &, behold, it be true, & the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel: 5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die. 6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.
Deut 23:14 For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, & to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.
Deut. 25:1 If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked. 2 And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, & to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number. 3 Forty stripes he may give him, & not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, & beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee. 4 Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.
End of chapter on blessing & curses
Deut 28:20 The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, & rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, & until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
🔥 1 Sam 2:7 The LORD maketh poor, & maketh rich: he bringeth low, & lifteth up. 8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, & lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, & to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, & he hath set the world upon them. 9 He will keep the feet of his saints, & the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
🔥 1 Sam 12:15 But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers. 16 Now therefore stand & see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes. 17 Is it not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, & he shall send thunder & rain; that ye may perceive & see that your wickedness is great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king. 18 So Samuel called unto the LORD; & the LORD sent thunder & rain that day: & all the people greatly feared the LORD & Samuel. 19 And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the LORD thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask us a king. 20 And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart; 21 And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain. 22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.
1 Sam 24:1 Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it. 12 The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee. 13 As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.
1 Sam 25:36 And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light. 37 But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. 38 And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died. 39 And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife.

1 Sam 30:22 Then answered all the wicked men & men of Belial, of those that went with David, & said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife & his children, that they may lead them away, & depart. 23 Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the LORD hath given us, who hath preserved us, & delivered the company that came against us into our hand. 24 For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike. 25 And it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel unto this day.
2 Sam 4:8 And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, & said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; & the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, & of his seed. 9 And David answered Rechab & Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, & said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity, 10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, & slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings: 11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, & take you away from the earth? 12 And David commanded his young men, & they slew them, & cut off their hands & their feet, & hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, & buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
Esther 7:5 Then the king Ahasuerus answered & said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, & where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so? 6 And Esther said, The adversary & enemy is this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king & the queen. 7 And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: & Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king. 8 Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; & Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face. 9 And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon. 10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified.
Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.    9 By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.
Job 8:20 Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers: 21 Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, & thy lips with rejoicing. 22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.

Job (answers God) 9:20 Though I were righteous, my own mouth would condemn me; Though I were blameless it would prove me perverse. "I am blameless, yet I do not know myself; I despise my life. It is all one thing; Therefore I say, 'He destroys the blameless & the wicked.' NKJV
Job 11:11 For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?.....18 And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, & thou shalt take thy rest in safety. 19 Also thou shalt lie down, & none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee. 20 But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.
Job 15:20 The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor. 21 A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him. 22 He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword. 23 He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand. 24 Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle. 25 For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.    26 He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
27 Because he covereth his face with his fatness, & maketh collops of fat on his flanks.    28 And he dwelleth in desolate cities, & in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps. 29 He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth. 30 He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, & by the breath of his mouth shall he go away. 31 Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence. 32 It shall be accomplished before his time, & his branch shall not be green. 33 He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, & shall cast off his flower as the olive. 34 For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery. 35 They conceive mischief, & bring forth vanity, & their belly prepareth deceit.
Job 16:1 Then Job answered & said, 2 I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all. 3 Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest? 4 I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, & shake mine head at you. 5 But I would strengthen you with my mouth, & the moving of my lips should asswage your grief. 6 Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: & though I forbear, what am I eased? 7 But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company. 8 And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face. 9 He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me. 10 They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.
11 God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked. 12 I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark. 13 His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground. 14 He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant. 15 I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust. 16 My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death; 17 Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure. 18 O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place. 19 Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high. 20 My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.
21 O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour! 22 When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.
Job 18 The Message (MSG)
Bildad’s Second Attack - Plunged from Light into Darkness
18:1-4 Bildad from Shuhah chimed in: “How monotonous these word games are getting!Get serious! We need to get down to business. Why do you treat your friends like slow-witted animals? You look down on us as if we don’t know anything. Why are you working yourself up like this? Do you want the world redesigned to suit you? Should reality be suspended to accommodate you? 5-21 “Here’s the rule: The light of the wicked is put out. Their flame dies down and is extinguished. Their house goes dark—every lamp in the place goes out. Their strong strides weaken, falter; they stumble into their own traps. They get all tangled up in their own red tape, Their feet are grabbed & caught, their necks in a noose. They trip on ropes they’ve hidden, and fall into pits they’ve dug themselves. Terrors come at them from all sides. They run helter-skelter. The hungry grave is ready to gobble them up for supper, To lay them out for a gourmet meal, a treat for ravenous Death. They are snatched from their home sweet home & marched straight to the death house. Their lives go up in smoke, acid rain soaks their ruins. Their roots rot & their branches wither. They’ll never again be remembered—nameless in unmarked graves. They are plunged from light into darkness, banished from the world. And they leave empty-handed—not one single child—nothing to show for their life on this earth. Westerners are aghast at their fate, easterners are horrified: ‘Oh no! So this is what happens to perverse people. This is how the God-ignorant end up!’”
Job 20 Living Bible (TLB) 20The speech of Zophar the Naamathite: 2 “I hasten to reply, for I have the answer for you. 3 You have tried to make me feel ashamed of myself for calling you a sinner, but my spirit won’t let me stop. 4 “Don’t you realize that ever since man was first placed upon the earth, 5 the triumph of the wicked has been short-lived, and the joy of the godless but for a moment? 6 Though the godless be proud as the heavens and walk with his nose in the air, 7 yet he shall perish forever, cast away like his own dung. Those who knew him will wonder where he has gone. 8 He will fade like a dream. 9 Neither his friends nor his family will ever see him again.
10 “His children shall beg from the poor, their hard labor shall repay his debts. 11 Though still a young man, his bones shall lie in the dust. 12 “He enjoyed the taste of his wickedness, letting it melt in his mouth, 13 sipping it slowly, lest it disappear. 14 “But suddenly the food he has eaten turns sour within him. 15 He will vomit the plunder he gorged. God won’t let him keep it down. 16 It is like poison & death to him. 17 He shall not enjoy the goods he stole; they will not be butter and honey to him after all. 18 His labors shall not be rewarded; wealth will give him no joy. 19 For he has oppressed the poor and foreclosed their homes; he will never recover. 20 Though he was always greedy, now he has nothing; of all the things he dreamed of—none remain. 21 Because he stole at every opportunity, his prosperity shall not continue. 22 “He shall run into trouble at the peak of his powers; all the wicked shall destroy him. 23 Just as he is about to fill his belly, God will rain down wrath upon him. 24 He will be chased and struck down. 25 The arrow is pulled from his body—and the glittering point comes out from his gall. The terrors of death are upon him. 26 “His treasures will be lost in deepest darkness. A raging fire will devour his goods, consuming all he has left. 27 The heavens will reveal his sins, & the earth will give testimony against him. 28 His wealth will disappear beneath the wrath of God. 29 This is what awaits the wicked man, for God prepares it for him.”
Job 21 Living Bible (TLB)
21 Job’s reply: 2-3 “Listen to me; let me speak, & afterwards, mock on. 4 “I am complaining about God,[a] not man; no wonder my spirit is so troubled. 5 Look at me in horror, & lay your hand upon your mouth. 6 Even I am frightened when I see myself. Horror takes hold upon me & I shudder. 7 “The truth is that the wicked live on to a good old age & become great & powerful. 8 They live to see their children grow to maturity around them, & their grandchildren too. 9 Their homes are safe from every fear, & God does not punish them. 10 Their cattle are productive, 11 they have many happy children, 12-13 they spend their time singing & dancing. They are wealthy and need deny themselves nothing; they are prosperous to the end. 14 All his despite the fact that they ordered God away and wanted no part of him and his ways. 15 “‘Who is Almighty God?’ they scoff. ‘Why should we obey him? What good will it do us?’ 16 “Look, everything the wicked touch has turned to gold! But I refuse even to deal with people like that. 17 Yet the wicked get away with it every time. They never have trouble, & God skips them when he distributes his sorrows and anger. 18 Are they driven before the wind like straw? Are they carried away by the storm? Not at all! 19 “‘Well,’ you say, ‘at least God will punish their children!’ But I say that God should punish the man who sins, not his children! Let him feel the penalty himself. 20 Yes, let him be destroyed for his iniquity. Let him drink deeply of the anger of the Almighty. 21 For when he is dead, then he will never again be able to enjoy his family.b22 “But who can rebuke God, the supreme Judge? 23-24 He destroys those who are healthy, wealthy, fat, and prosperous; 25 God also destroys those in deep and grinding poverty who have never known anything good. 26 Both alike are buried in the same dust, both eaten by the same worms.
27 “I know what you are going to say— 28 you will tell me of rich and wicked men who came to disaster because of their sins. 29 But I reply, Ask anyone who has been around and he can tell you the truth, 30-32 that the evil man is usually spared in the day of calamity and allowed to escape. No one rebukes him openly. No one repays him for what he has done. And an honor guard keeps watch at his grave. 33 A great funeral procession precedes and follows him as the soft earth covers him. 34 How can you comfort me when your whole premise is so wrong?”
  • Job 21:4 I am complaining about God, implied.
Job 24: 9 They pluck the fatherless from the breast, & take a pledge of the poor. 10 They cause him to go naked without clothing, & they take away the sheaf from the hungry; 11 Which make oil within their walls, & tread their winepresses, & suffer thirst. 12 Men groan from out of the city, & the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them. 13 They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof. 14 The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief. 15 The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.
16 In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the daytime: they know not the light. 17 For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death. 18 He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards. 19 Drought & heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned. 20 The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree. 21 the evil entreateth the barren that beareth not: & doeth not good to the widow. 22 He draweth also the mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life. 23 Though it be given him to be in safety, whereon he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways. 24 They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn. 25 And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
Job 31 Complete Jewish Bible
1 “I made a covenant with my eyes not to let them lust after any girl. 2 “What share does God give from above? What is the heritage from Shaddai on high? 3 Isn’t it calamity to the unrighteous? disaster to those who do evil? 4 Doesn’t he see my ways & count all my steps? 5 “If I have gone along with falsehood, if my feet have hurried to deceit; 6 then let me be weighed on an honest scale, so that God will know my integrity. 7 “If my steps have wandered from the way, if my heart has followed my eyes, if the least dirt has stuck to my hands; 8 then let me sow and someone else eat, let what grows from my fields be uprooted. 9 “If my heart has been enticed toward a woman, and I have lain in wait at my neighbor’s door; 10 then let my wife grind for another man, & let others kneel on her. 11 For that would be a heinous act, a criminal offense, 12 a fire that would burn to the depths of Abaddon, uprooting all I produce. 13 “If I ever rejected my slave or slave-girl’s cause, when they brought legal action against me; 14 then what would I do if God stood up? Were he to intervene, what answer could I give?
15 Didn’t he who made me in the womb make them too? Didn’t the same one shape us both before our birth? 16 “If I held back anything needed by the poor or made a widow’s eye grow dim [with tears], 17 or ate my portion of food by myself, without letting the orphan eat any of it —18 No! From my youth he grew up with me as if with a father, & I have been her guide from my mother’s womb! —19 or if I saw a traveler needing clothing, someone in need who had no covering, 20 who didn’t bless me from his heart for being warmed with the fleece from my sheep, 21 or if I lifted my hand against an orphan, knowing that no one would dare charge me in court; 22 then let my arm fall from its socket, & let my forearm be broken at the elbow! 23 For calamity from God has always terrified me; before his majesty I could never do a thing [like that]. 24 “If I made gold my hope, if I said to fine gold, ‘You are my security,’ 25 if I took joy in my great wealth, in my having acquired so much; 26 or if, on seeing the shining sun or the full moon as it moved through the sky, 27 my heart was secretly seduced, so that I would wave them a kiss with my hand; 28 then this too would be a criminal offense, for I would have been lying to God on high. 29 “Did I rejoice at the destruction of him who hated me? Was I filled with glee when disaster overtook him? 30 No, I did not allow my mouth to sin by asking for his life with a curse. 31 “Was there anyone in my tent who didn’t say, ‘No one can find a single person whom he has not filled with his meat’? 32  No stranger had to sleep in the street; I kept my house open to the traveler. 33 “If I concealed my sins, as most people do,by hiding my wrongdoing in my heart, 34 from fear of general gossip or dread of some family’s contempt. keeping silent and not going outdoors —
35 I wish I had someone who would listen to me! Here is my signature; let Shaddai answer me! I wish I had the indictment my adversary has written! 36 I would carry it on my shoulder; I would bind it on me like a crown. 37 I would declare to him every one of my steps; I would approach him like a prince. 38 “If my land cried out against me, if its furrows wept together, 39 if I ate its produce without paying or made its owners despair; 40 then let thistles grow instead of wheat & noxious weeds instead of barley! “The words of Job are finished.”

33:1 “Please listen, Job, to what I have to say. 2 I have begun to speak; now let me continue. 3 I will speak the truth with all sincerity. 4 For the Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. 5 Don’t hesitate to answer me if you can. 6 “Look, I am the one you were wishing for, someone to stand between you and God and to be both his representative and yours. 7 You need not be frightened of me. I am not some person of renown to make you nervous and afraid. I, too, am made of common clay.
8 “You have said it in my hearing, yes, you’ve said it again and again— 9 ‘I am pure, I am innocent; I have not sinned.’ 10 You say God is using a fine-tooth comb to try to find a single fault, and so to count you as his enemy. 11‘And he puts my feet in the stocks,’ you say, ‘and watches every move I make.’ 12 “All right, here is my reply: In this very thing, you have sinned by speaking of God that way. For God is greater than man. 13 Why should you fight against him just because he does not give account to you of what he does? 14 “For God speaks again and again, 15 in dreams, in visions of the night when deep sleep falls on men as they lie on their beds. 16 He opens their ears in times like that & gives them wisdom & instruction, 17-18 causing them to change their minds, & keeping them from pride, & warning them of the penalties of sin, & keeping them from falling into some trap. 19 “Or God sends sickness and pain, even though no bone is broken, 20 so that a man loses all taste and appetite for food and doesn’t care for even the daintiest dessert. 21 He becomes thin, mere skin and bones, 22 & draws near to death.
23-24 “But if a messenger from heaven is there to intercede for him as a friend, to show him what is right, then God pities him and says,[a] ‘Set him free. Do not make him die, for I have found a substitute.’ 25 Then his body will become as healthy as a child’s, firm and youthful again. 26 And when he prays to God, God will hear and answer and receive him with joy, and return him to his duties. 27 And he will declare to his friends, ‘I sinned, but God let me go. 28 He did not let me die. I will go on living in the realm of light.’ 29 “Yes, God often does these things for man— 30 brings back his soul from the pit, so that he may live in the light of the living. 31Mark this well, O Job. Listen to me, and let me say more. 32 But if you have anything to say at this point, go ahead. I want to hear it, for I am anxious to justify you. 33 But if not, then listen to me. Keep silence and I will teach you wisdom!”
  • Job 33:23 then God pities him & says, or “and if the Angel says.”
Job 35:9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty. 10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven? 12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men. 13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
🔥 God speaking:
Job 38:12 Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; & caused the dayspring to know his place; 13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? 14 It is turned as clay to the seal; & they stand as a garment. 15 And from the wicked their light is withholden, & the high arm shall be broken.
Job 40:10 Deck thyself now with majesty & excellency; & array thyself with glory & beauty. 11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him. 12 Look on every one that is proud, & bring him low; & tread down the wicked in their place.
Psalm 5 Living Bible (TLB)
5:1-2 O Lord, hear me praying; listen to my plea, O God my King, for I will never pray to anyone but you. 3 Each morning I will look to you in heaven & lay my requests before you, praying earnestly. 4 I know you get no pleasure from wickedness & cannot tolerate the slightest sin. 5 Therefore, proud sinners will not survive your searching gaze, for how you hate their evil deeds. 6 You will destroy them for their lies; how you abhor all murder & deception. 7 But as for me, I will come into your Temple protected by your mercy & your love; I will worship you with deepest awe. 8 Lord, lead me as you promised me you would; otherwise my enemies will conquer me. Tell me clearly what to do, which way to turn. 9 For they cannot speak one truthful word. Their hearts are filled to the brim with wickedness. Their suggestions are full of the stench of sin & death. Their tongues are filled with flatteries to gain their wicked ends. 10 O God, hold them responsible. Catch them in their own traps; let them fall beneath the weight of their own transgressions, for they rebel against you. 11 But make everyone rejoice who puts his trust in you. Keep them shouting for joy because you are defending them. Fill all who love you with your happiness. 12 For you bless the godly man, O Lord; you protect him with your shield of love.

Proverbs 1:10-19 NKJV
0 My son, if sinners entice you,Do not consent. 11 If they say, "Come with us,Let us lie in wait to shed blood; Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; 12 Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, And whole, like those who go down to the Pit; 13 We shall find all kinds of precious possessions, We shall fill our houses with spoil; 14 Cast in your lot among us, Let us all have one purse" —  15  My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path; 16 For their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed blood. 17 Surely, in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird; 18 But they lie in wait for their own blood, They lurk secretly for their own lives. 19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; It takes away the life of its owners.

Proverbs 1:23-33 NKJV
23 Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. 24 Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded, 25  Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke, 26  I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, 27 When your terror comes like a storm, and your destruction comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.
28 "Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. 29 Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord, 30 They would have none of my counsel and despised my every rebuke. 31 Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled to the full with their own fancies. 32 For the turning away of the simple will slay them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; 33 But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and will be secure, without fear of evil."

But shame shall be the legacy of fools.

Proverbs 4:19 NKJV    The way of the wicked is like darkness;
They do not know what makes them stumble.
